Big Boys Don’t Cry? Day 4 of DC TTT, Bali

Hello!

What do you think: it is good or bad when students cry in the class? Of course NO, if it is because the teacher is torturing them, and in this case they should leave the class immediately. If it is a personal development workshop, motivational program or Directive Communication Psychology Trainer’s Certification – people SHOULD cry.

Crying releases tension and helps to get rid of emotional blockages and re-set nervous system. On day 4 of DC TTT our students had to face new challenges, which ended up in crying and later in creating tension inside the group.

When our students realized their Primary Emotional Drivers and their ranking, the absence of other Emotional Drivers, which they probably need to achieve their goals, how it works together with their Brain Color, the transformation process, which started on Day 3 reached another stage: realization of strengths and weaknesses. But the main question is now – how to deal with them? What to do? Where to go and how to change your attitude or expand your Circle of Tolerance towards others, how to get rid of your encoded assumptions and high expectations? How to become a better person and inspire other people?

When your ‘Isness’ has been questioned a lot by yourself, when you set high goals, but then realize, that you are drained and no longer have any energy/desire to achieve them, your mind/body/soul connection is lost, your personality is in conflict and when someone/something pulls the trigger in you – you can either burst in tears, or become very aggressive. In this class almost everyone cried yesterday, even our brave and strong men. Interesting fact: when men are able to show their vulnerability (not all the time of course), they usually become greater leaders, then those, who are afraid of that, because they have higher level of compassion and empathy to other people’s problems, emotions and needs.

Have you ever heard of Gamification? This is the application of typical elements of game playing (e.g., point scoring, competition with others, rules of play) to other areas of activity, for example, training. Gamification is widely used in all the programs developed by Directive Communication International. Game mechanics are designed to shape a game’s dynamics (e.g., competitive behavior) and emotions (e.g., anticipation) in order to engage players. Gamification’s main purposes are to engage, teach, entertain, and measure to improve players’ contributions and participation.

There were three games played yesterday:

  • Emotional Drive Challenge – tension started to build up, students started to reveal and realize their own weaknesses, but still managed to maintain team-work;
  • Managing Emotional Currency – tension ended up in the first real conflicts;
  • Choudhury Mind Maze (the game developed by one of our best DC Trainers, Leslie Choudhury) – tension became unbearable, producing multiple minor conflicts between two or more individuals, sometimes resulting in blaming, impatience and refusal to speak to others and solve the conflict.

In spite of all the contradictory elements we are witnessing right now, we know that by the end of this program all the people we are having in the class will find out their Ideal Self and will be able to continue their mission of making this world a better place with more energy, more drive and bigger passion.
